In fact, today unmanned cars, trains and ships are already actively used for cargo transportation. And this is convenient, because no driver, pilot or operator is required.
Representatives of Singularis Lab named the main trends characteristic of unmanned freight transport.
- Unmanned trucks. Such developments already exist in the USA (Embark Trucks) and Russia (unmanned KAMAZ trucks, Trailer Drone platform-cart). In America, trucks can cover a distance of 600 km.
- Unmanned trains. This includes the development of Rio Tinto (an unmanned freight train). Researchers at the Aerospace Center (Germany) are also planning to automate all necessary operations at marshalling stations (forming trains, loading, etc.).
- Unmanned ships. The first models have already been created by Chinese (the Jindouyun-0 ship) and Norwegian (the Yara Birkeland ship) specialists. Yara Birkeland ships will transport various fertilizers between several ports.
- Unmanned helicopters. In 2021 the first unmanned model of the Russian helicopter was presented – BAS-200. It will make it possible to quickly deliver small cargo (mail, medicine, etc.) to remote areas of the country.
